SRI PRAGADEESWARAR TEMPLE

Brihadishvara Temple, called Rajarajesvaram (lit. 'Lord of Rajaraja') by its builder, and known locally as Thanjai Periya Kovil (lit. 'Thanjavur Big Temple') and Peruvudaiyar Kovil, is a Shaivite Hindu temple built in a Chola architectural style located on the south bank of the Cauvery river in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, India. It is one of the largest Hindu temples and an exemplar of Tamil architecture, a subset of Dravidian architecture. It is also called Dakshina Meru (Meru of the South). Built by Chola emperor Rajaraja I between 1003 and 1010 CE, the temple is a part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the "Great Living Chola Temples"

THANJAVUR PALACE

The Thanjavur Maratha Palace, known locally as Aranmanai, today is the official residence of the Bhonsle family that ruled Tanjore from 1674 to 1855. It is located in Thanjavur. There is also a small bell tower. The Saraswathi Mahal Library is situated with the Thanjavur palace complex. The Chandramouleeswarar temple also is located within the premises.

MARIAMMAN TEMPLE (PUNNAINALLUR)

The Punnai Nallur Mariamman Temple, temple of goddess Mariamman, is a Hindu temple located at Punnainallur near Thanjavur.Punnainallur popularly known as Thanjavur Mariamman Kovil has derived considerable importance from time immemorial in both legend and history. The temple attracts thousands of devotees from all parts of the district throughout the year. Thanks to the munificence of its devotees, the temple has been given a facelift in the recent past.

RAJARAJAN MUSEUM

Rajarajan Manimandapam is located in the Southern Part of Thanjavur. It was built in 1991 during the 8th World Tamil Conference. It is a beautiful structure and is built in the style of the buildings constructed during the Chola period. The small and well maintained garden inside is an ideal for children with swings, slides and other such things. It is having a museum in the ground floor, which was built in 1984 to commemorate the 1000th birth anniversary of Raja Raja Chola, who as the most famous king in Thanjavur.

ART GALLERY

The Thanjavur Art Gallery, also referred to as the Saraswati Mahal Library Museum, has a history that dates back to the early 20th century. It was established to preserve and showcase the collection of the erstwhile rulers, the Maratha kings of Thanjavur. These rulers, despite not being native to Tamil Nadu, cherished the local culture and contributed immensely to its survival and promotion. The gallery is particularly renowned for its exquisite collection of bronze sculptures from the Chola period. The Chola dynasty, which ruled from the 9th to the 13th centuries, was known for its patronage of the arts, and the bronzes from this era are considered amongst the finest examples of Indian art craft.

SCHWARTZ CHURCH

Schwartz Church is a church situated in Thanjavur, India. Constructed by the Danish missionary Christian Friedrich Schwarz in 1779, the church is a plain building with few distinctive features. There is a note to the effect that Major Stevens has laid a foundation stone for the church under nine feet depth.Father Schwartz has conducted regular masses in this church from April 1780.
